Dad collapsed after his battle with pancreatic cancer on the day of his 61st birthday. Then he survived 7 days with machines forcing him to breathe. Though I hate those things it was a great time for us to sit by him as people from all of our families came in from everywhere to sit and talk and tell funny stories. I wouldn't give that time away. His legacy would have been laughter. He loved to tease and be teased back. One of the stories I learned at his funeral was from the police officer who worked at the school. She came in one morning to find her desk covered in donuts and came out that afternoon to find her car covered in orange cones.
